Among those 40 entered cars, a minimum of 30 is guaranteed for participation to the entire series. The NEC team considers themselves lucky to be able to count on such a solid base of teams that have committed to the Northern European Cup over the past few years. Among them, renowned names such as Van Amersfoort Racing, SL Formula Racing and the recently merged MP Manor Motorsport. The remaining places are filled by promising names such as McLaren contracted Nyck de Vries (R Ace GP) and 2011 FIA talent Stoffel Vandoorne (Josef Kaufmann Racing).
Another addition to this years starting grid are the British teams of Fortec Motorsport and Mark Burdett Motorsport. Fortec Motorsport brings the son of Formula One world champion Damon Hill, Josh Hill to the championship, along with other talented drivers such as Jake Dennis, Dan De Zille and Shanaan Engineer. Burdett Motorsport joins the grid with Brazilian Gabriel Casagrande.
The weekend starts on Friday the 20th with two free practices at 10.15 AM and 14.00 PM. Both qualifying sessions follow directly on Friday at 17.00.
