NEC in for some change at Oschersleben

02/07/12 - The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup has reached the third station in its international calendar. After the races at Hockenheim and the Nurburgring, the 210 bhp formula cars drive the next round at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Because the current leader in the standings will not attend this race, the thirty other young race drivers will compete for the overall lead during the last German round of the 2012 championship.

As Stoffel Vandoorne, the leader in overall standings after the first two rounds, will not be present in Oschersleben, second placed Jake Dennis and Jordan King in third position will both be doing the maximum to take the lead from the young Belgian driver. The British Dennis and King are only one point apart; it will be an interesting fight with no room for mistakes.

With 30 drivers from 19 different countries, NEC currently is one of the most international series among the various national Formula Renault championships. The fifteen different teams subscribed to the series are also maintaining a fierce competition. Fortec Motorsport will be eager to take the place of first ranked Josef Kaufmann Racing, whilst Manor MP Motorsport is going to threaten the third placed R-Ace GP, as both Kaufmann and R-Ace GP will not join the field at the Motorsport Arena.

The weekend takes off with both qualifying session on Friday the 6th of July at 16.30 PM. The races start on Saturday the 7th of July at 10.45, to be continued at 16.35 with the second race of the weekend. The third race in Oschersleben, marking the eighth race of the season, starts on Sunday at 09.00 in the morning.
