The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup will be a part of the Gamma Racing Day, the largest event for combined motorbikes and cars in the Netherlands. About 60.000 people are expected to attend the racetrack predominantly known for the world famous TT of Assen. Together with NEC, the German Formula 3 series will be representing the most important steppingstones for Formula racing in the North European region.
Jake Dennis took the lead in the current standings after the last event at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, and has a solid 20 point difference to Jordan King. With four second places, King will try to get the maximum out of his next round at Assen and score his first victory this year.
Dutch fans may settle their hope on Jeroen Slaghekke for Van Amersfoort Racing, who currently has the best rankings on the fifth position. Meanwhile, McLaren talent Nyck de Vries will also be at Assen and showing the Dutch why he is selected as Formula One trainee. Both Schothorst brothers will also be present again. Pieter Schothorst (Josef Kaufmann Racing) and Steijn (Manor MP Motorsport) are always excited to perform well on home ground and have proven before that they both are podium material.
The event starts on Friday with the qualification sessions at 16.55. The first race will be held on Saturday at 16.40 in the afternoon, to be continued by the main race on Sunday the fifth of August, at 16.10.
