NEC goes Red Bull Ring

20/08/12 - The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup celebrates a premiere this weekend. For the first time ever, the series will visit the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Close to 40 competitors come together for the fifth round of the 2012 season in the upcoming weekend of the 25th and 26th of August 2012.

The youngster series is a guest of the AvD raceweekend Red Bull Ring this weekend and will drive another two races for the 2012 title. The Red Bull Ring became a popular destination for major racing events since the reopening of the racetrack last year. Reason enough for EUROCUP teams R-ace GP and Josef Kaufmann Racing to join the NEC for another guest appearance, completing the grid to the impressive number of 37 cars.

There is 33 points in between the leader in the current standings Jake Dennis and second placed Jordan King. Josh Hill follows with a similar point difference, but the gap to Jeroen Slaghekke is a little smaller. With 30 points for every win, not finishing is not an option for any of the frontrunners. A challenging task for anyone competing in a field with that many participants.

The event starts on Saturday with the qualification sessions at 16.00. The first race will be held on Sunday morning at 9.10, to be continued that same day at 14.45 in the afternoon.
