Finals at Francorchamps

08/10/12 - The last round of the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC takes place during the upcoming weekend at Spa – Francorchamps. With 35 cars, the series keeps up the impressive grids that have lasted throughout this season. Among them, Jake Dennis and Jordan King, who have one last battle to attend to: the title in the Northern European Cup.

The world famous track in the Ardennes is a popular one for powerful singleseaters. Next to the solid base of teams such as Inter Europol, Van Amersfoort and KTR, the NEC organization welcomes back R Ace GP and the EUROCUP team of Fortec Motorsports. Prema Powerteam also joins the grid with their two drivers Lucas Ghiotto and Bruno Bonifacio. On top, the staff is excited to welcome a complete new team to Formula Renault 2.0: Falcon Motorsport from the United Kingdom.

Jake Dennis has a firm lead of 55 points, which means that he needs to retire both races and Jordan King needs to win twice in order to take the title from the Fortec driver. Of course, nothing is impossible with almost forty cars on the grid and the unpredictable weather in the Belgian Ardennes.

The programme of this weekend constitutes of a very compact schedule starting with the free practices on Saturday morning at 9.00, the both qualifying sessions are set for Saturday afternoon at 14.45. The last races of the 2012 season are left for Sunday the 14th of October at 10.35 and 15.15.

The winners of the Northern European Cup will win a test in the bigger brother of the two litre: the Formula Renault 3.5 running in the successful World Series by Renault.
