Record-breaking season starts at the Hockenheimring

03/04/13 - The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup starts a record-breaking season this upcoming weekend at the Hockenheimring. Never before were so many cars registered for all of the seven events of the series. The first one this weekend at the Hockenheimring will count close to forty drivers, from eighteen different nationalities.

Next to long-term partners such as SL Formula and KEO Racing, the series also welcomes brand new teams in the series such as AV Formula, JTR Racing and re-joining JD Motorsport. Next to famous racing teams, the series also receives famous names. Sons of Formula One drivers Deletraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) and Panis (RC Formula) are among the almost forty registered drivers.

The collective testing earlier in March have shown fastest times for Fortec Motorsport’s Matt Parry and Jack Aitken, but the competition is just hundreds of seconds away in the form of Raoul Owens (MarkBurdett Motorsport) and Nicolas Jamin (ART Junior Team). All in all the series can look forward to a very high level of competition throughout.

The weekend starts off on Friday the 5th of April, at 13.45 with the first free practice, followed by the second that same day at 16.05. The qualification is set for Saturday morning at 9.50. The very first race of the season starts on Saturday afternoon a 15.10. The second and third take place on Sunday, at 9.00 and 13.05. All sessions of the weekend can be followed through livetiming on www.raceresults.at
