Who takes the lead at the Nurburgring?

17/04/13 - After a stunning opening weekend at the Hockenheimring, the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup hits the other German Formula One track for the second round of the 2013 season. Olliver Rowland (Manor MP Motorsport) collected three podium places and the first place in the rankings. However, he will not be contesting at the Nurburgring, offering plenty of chances to the other frontrunners to get past. ART Junior Team and Fortec Motorsport have the best cards at the moment, but with 36 competitors at the start, anything can happen.

Esteban Ocon (ART Grand Prix) and Mikko Pakari (Fortec Motorsports) follow Rowland in the current standings and will also be present at the Nurburgring, but both drivers are not taking parts in all rounds. Caterham Development driver Matt Parry, Fortec Motorsport Shahaan Engineer and JD Motorsport’s Jakub Dalewski are currently the best scoring drivers among the participants for the full season of the Northern European Cup.

The base of fourteen different teams is this weekend joined by renowned Czech racing team of Krenek Motorsport. He joins the grid with Slovakian Christian Malcharek. Fortec Competition will be complete again after Corinna Kamper missed out on the first round of Hockenheimring. The fastest girl in the field fell ill two weeks ago, but is fully prepared for the second round of the championship.

The AvD weekend starts on Friday with the first free practices at 12.00 and 16.20. Both qualifying sessions are set for Saturday 12.10 and 12.30. Similar to the Hockenheimring, the field will be split in two groups on the base of the combined free practice results. The slowest group will start at 12.10, the faster group at 12.30. On Sunday, the fourth race of the season starts at 11.10, the fifth is scheduled for 15.10.
