NEC gets ready for Spa Francorchamps

23/07/13 - The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup heads to the fourth Formula One track on its international racing calendar. After Hockenheim, Nurburgring and Silverstone, the renowned track in the Belgian Ardennes hosts the fourth round of the 2013 season. Over thirty registered cars promise another action packed weekend for one of the most popular single seaters series in Europe.

Caterham Development Driver Matt Parry arrives in Spa with a comfortable advantage in the current standings for the championship. However, Spa sees the return of some of the EUROCUP frontrunners, ensuring serious battles for podium. Parry’s direct competition for the title can be found in Jack Aitken (Fortec Motorsport) and Dennis Olsen (Josef Kaufmann Racing). The Brit and Norwegian will push to regain some ground. Meanwhile, frontrunners such as Andrea Pizzitola from EUROCUP rejoined the field, promising a fight for every meter of tarmac.

This round of the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC takes place within the frame of the largest motorsports event in Belgium: the 24 hours of Spa. As a consequence, the timetable looks a little different than usual. Free Practice starts already on Thursday the 25th of July with sessions at 13.20 and 16.50. Qualifying takes place on Friday morning at 11.40, to be followed by the first race that same day at 15.40. The weekend finishes on Saturday morning with the second race at 9.45 in the morning. All sessions can be followed through the livetiming of the Blanc Pain Series site or Blanc Pain GT app.
