Who will be the winner of the 2014 season of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup?

17/09/14 - The final round of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup will take place at the Nürburgring this weekend and with three races to go and 90 points to share, it is still anybodies guess who will become the champion of the 2014 season. Normally it would have been a two race weekend but the cancelled third race from Most has been added. It will be run as the first race at the Nürburgring and the starting grid is the official grid of Most.

Ben Barnicoat (Fortec Motorsports) now leads with 224 points, Louis Déletraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) has 212 points and Steijn Schothorst (Manor MP Motorsport) is 12 points behind him. A bit further down but with a bit of luck still in contention of the title are Seb Morris (Fortec Motorsports), Callan O’Keeffe (KTR), Ukyo Sasahara (Euronova Racing) and Gustav Malja (Josef Kaufmann Racing).

Ben Barnicoat: ”I am in the best possible position as I am leading the championship. But I will treat it like any other race weekend because that worked for me so far.. I will try to be the best I can. I am looking forward to the Nürburgring as well as I never have driven there before. It is not going to easy but I am up to the job.“

Louis Déletraz: “It is the most important race weekend of the year. I am looking forward to my fight with Ben. I am very motivated and will do anything possible to win the championship.”

Stein Schothorst: “In the first race I will start from 22nd place but will fight to finish as high as possible. We will not give up till the last second as you just will never know what is going to happen. Hopefully we have a succesful last weekend. There is always a chance!”.
